University of Nottingham and Made Without Team up to Create Gluten-Free Pies

Tasked with creating a gluten-free pie for a well-known pub chain, here at Made Without we know we needed the latest in science and innovation to create a product that’s both delicious but on brief.

We teamed up with the University of Nottingham, working with their postgraduate food product management students to develop the perfect, gluten-free pastry. On top of this, the students also had to work on a recipe that could also be microwaved from frozen, and still taste great.

We’re happy to say that the students and our Made Without team did an incredible job, developing a pie pastry that tastes so delicious we’ve used it in many of our other Made Without dishes. Flaky, moreish and even better than gluten-filled pie crusts, this pastry has become an integral part of our Made Without offering.

On top of the gluten-free pastry, we’ve also created a selection of mouthwateringly good gluten-free fillings. From red wine and steak to creamy chicken and tarragon – our pies have all of the goodness and none of the unnecessaries.

Jeeva Sanmugam, managing director for Made Without, said: “We know that no-gluten containing and dairy free products are no longer a ‘nice to have’ on a menu or a token gesture, consumers are demanding more choices and expect to be treated equally when it comes to flavour and choice, they expect food to be great tasting and current and fit alongside the core lines on a great menu without compromise.”
